Tree of Life

This vase can be seen as a further development of the process I used to make my graduation work. Using the same construction technique, I continued to explore different building-bricks to generate new forms.
In contrast to the first series of bowls, this work has not been supported during the construction, but it has been build on its own bottom.
This imposes certain restriction on the construction process, but it does allow a vase-like shape to be made.

This vase won the first prize in a contest organised by the magazine "Klei in al haar facetten" to celebrate its 20th anniversary on september 17th, 2000.
